We believe there is beauty in efficiency (thus avoiding waste). Therefore, we
leverage open source technology, and
host solutions in the cloud or in your own data centre
Community
We work together with diverse and disadvantaged communities, to lift passionate coders into a professional and productive environment.
Our customers are mostly partners for many years, where we mutually benefit from collaborating.

Balancell provides clever battery solutions, including real-time monitoring.
Uber5 designed and built their initial, cloud based monitoring and processing solution: Together with Balancell's web developers and micro controller experts we created a robust and scalable system, based on open source technologies.
Balancell continues maintaining and enhancing the cloud-based system, providing their customers with continuous insight and guidance.
Since 2014, Uber5 has been providing technical advice, system design, software development (research, surveys, call center, election day automation), and cloud infrastructure support to the Democratic Alliance, South Africa's main opposition party. We've built solutions for candidate selection, call centres, polling and surveys, and election day automation.
For an innovative insurance product, we co-designed and implemented a mobile phone based sales process and underpinning administration system.
For and with RollOut, we built a solution to enable personal trainers to schedule, reduce their admin effort, and make their customers pre-pay in the process.
We also built the first version of a payment gateway, which RollOut then in-sourced, while growing transactions and revenue.
RollOut has had a long-standing relationship with Uber5, and we have consistently found working with Uber5 to be a positive and constructive experience.
Within the Uber5 team Chris is great at architecture, and good at sharing his insights with us as a Client.
We have found that Uber5 are able to build robust solutions that are fit for purpose within a predictable timeframe and budget. And mostly, we have found Uber5 to be responsive when the pressure is on for software performance.
We contribute to the South African software development community by partnering with CodeX through mentoring and hackathons.
About
We build software together with customers and partners, leveraging our tech skills and our customers' understanding of their business.
We emphasise doing it together, as we believe this yields superior results: We learn from the customer concerning their business challenges, they learn from us what is possible in software, and we build it for them and with them.
We also work together with diverse and potentially previously disadvantaged communities, to lift passionate coders into a professional and productive environment.
Since the age of 13 I've been writing computer code.
Based on that, I've ventured into diverse industries (supply chain optimisation, financial services, mobile money, political campaigning) as software developer and entrepreneur.
I studied Computer Science and Economics (B.Com, Honours CompSci) at the University of Mannheim, Germany.
I’m a translator! I analyze the complexities of your business and software requirements into small manageable blocks, and then translate the information into tech language for our development team, That way we can build clever software to help you work better
Patience, good listening skills, mutual respect, and years of international experience in a wide variety of telecoms, tech and diverse cultural environments ensure that I am highly adaptable to any client’s workspace
I have extensive knowledge in software design, implementation and configuration, as well as a constant craving to learn the latest coding languages
With my genuine interest in how your company operates, you won’t need to micro-manage me, and will find me to be the sturdy bridge between your needs, and our development team.
Coding is fun! You’ve got to learn to separate out the facts, in order to find a solution to build good code. And it’s dealing with facts that I’m particular calm and good at, having learnt that if you don’t understand bias, you’ll land up creating another problem.
If I don’t have all the facts for you, I’ll tell you. Then I’ll go on a fact finding mission, because only then can I build neat and clean software for you.
Right from the start I’ve been the go-to person at home when it comes to tech. Constantly problem solving and analyzing content, whether it be school work or just life stuff, I found my post-school comfort zone in coding. It’s a fascinating space, and I often sit in wonderment at how the touch of a button can bring a whole new world alive.
I enjoy building software that simplifies tedious day-to-day tasks.
My experience has been in designing data models.
At Uber5 I build backend systems that make it easier for users to store and manipulate their data, and I enjoy building not-so-fancy but functional clients to allow users to interact with the system and generate reports.
I enjoy working on projects where I have autonomy so as to maximise my creativity.
I am a full-stack web developer who graduated from project CODEX Cape Town in 2018.
My passion and interest in software development is the opportunity to create something that has the potential to be used by millions of people, and change their lives.
I love the challenge of coming up with solutions to real problems using software, and Uber5 gives me the opportunity to do that.
